Former Assistant GF, Abubakar Malami, is set to possibly face a legal disciplinary panel over a prejudicial commentary made against the detained former National Security Advisor (NSA), Sambo Dasuki – Malami was quoted as saying, in an interview, that despite all subsisting court orders for his release on bail, the former NSA would not be released – The NBA had been petitioned by the Dasuki family, hoping for an investigation and sanction of Malami over his unprofessional conduct and contempt for the rule of law.
The family also asked the Nigerian Bar Association(NBA) to intervene in Dasuki’s ordeal and take action to compel the government to respect the rule of law On Friday, June 14, Abubakar Malami, the immediate past attorney general of the federation and minister of justice, will face the disciplinary panel of the Legal Practitioners Privileges Committee.
The hearing notice, dated May 16, with reference number PET/LPPC/23/2018, was signed by the committee’s secretary, Patricia Orhomuru Esq, Premium Times reports.
The notice read in part: “Take notice that the above matter is fixed for hearing by the Disciplinary Committee of the Legal Practitioner Privileged Committee of the Office of Registrar Supreme Court of Nigeria Abuja on June 14, 2019, at 11.00 o’clock in the forenoon.”
